when I was a child, I experienced sleep paralysis for the first time. If anyone else has been through it before, you know the horribly terrifying feeling. this is my take on it.
edit: You wake up, but you can’t move a muscle. Lying in bed, you’re totally conscious, and you realize that strange things are happening. There’s a crushing weight on your chest that’s humanoid. And it’s evil. You might have even felt afraid but could not call for help. This condition is called sleep paralysis. Sleep paralysis may leave you feeling frightened, especially if you also see or hear things that aren't really there. Sleep paralysis may happen only once, or you may have it frequently -- even several times a night.
I've had something like this happen to me twice but I wasn't sleeping.I was walking to my room and then my vision got cloudy,my whole body started going numb and I was leaning on the wall. And TH second time was in my room and I think I saw a figure in the door.I don't really remember....
I've had it before, now that I think about it. Not something actually touching me, but I was only 7 and I was so scared my whole bed was shaking. It was just a black shape of a man, nothing special, but by god it scared the living shit outta me when it came closer until it almost touched me, he never really did touch me though, he keeping looking at me and the spot he was going to touch before I finally forced myself to sleep.
i remember in my general psychology class when we got the chapter on sleep, when you start going into the first stages of sleep you can have hallucinations along with the paralysis as you start to go into REM sleep....if remember correctly
I've experienced it as a child and yes I agree it's terrifying! I've grown out of it but I still remember the experiences for they happened quite often.
Really good work And I know this horribly feeling very well. I have this until know about six times I think. One time I remember very well, I dreamed that where under water and I can't breathe and I tried to open my eyes, or move my body, but it haven't worked at all. I have no feeling for time, as this happened, but I it endet, as the noise, that I've heard, endet :/ I really never forget this creepy moment.
You know, I've had this before. Never saw any faces or anything, but just couldn't move. Also something you didn't mention, I couldn't get any words out. I distinctly remember trying to speak, but all that came out was a little air noise from my throat, and even that was greatly muted. In fact, now that I've talked about it I believe that this is the source of one of my more recent nightmares, where only my head is floating above water and I can't move the rest of my body.
thanks! I actually looked at your Dragon Kid process for how to color this, but I didn't really have time to do realistic values. so thanks for that too
